CPOA Client wins NCAA Division I Golf Championships Within minutes of James McLean winning the NCAA Division I National Championships his father contacted the Australasian Head Office for College Prospects of America to pass on the good news. In only five months James McLean has gone from the small Victorian town of Wahgunyah to the State of Minnesota and to the top of the Collegiate Golf World. The 19 year old Freshman has beaten a field packed full of talented Americans winning the individual title of the NCAA Championships and he did this in style with a record achieving score of 17 under 271 consisting of rounds of 71,66,65 and 69. James tied the 72 hole records set by John Inman of North Carolina in 1984 which was subsequently equalled by Phil Mickleson (the Leftie) of Arizona State in 1992 and Justin Leonard of Texas in 1994. Other winners of the NCAA Championship are household names such as Jack Nicklaus, Tome Kite, Ben Crenshaw, Tiger Woods. Scott Simpson and of course Mickleson and Leonard. James's win concluded a fantastic Spring Semester in which he has won three tournaments for his College team and leads the Big Ten conference stroke average on 71.9 The NCAA Title also gives James All-American Status and attracts numerous invitations to play in top level competition. James told the media that he was from a town of about 500 people and many many more sheep and that the toughest part of his move to the United States to school was leaving the warm climate of Australia for the cold of Minnesota. However, he agreed that the move had been worthwhile. CONGRATULATIONS JAMES FROM CPOA and all its clients. Thank you to Golfweb for some of the information provided above.
